The 9–5 Isn't Your Whole Personality

Your 9–5 Isn't Your Whole Personality

For a long time, one of the first questions people asked was:

“What do you do?”

And usually, they meant:

“What do you do for work?”

But that's only one version of you.

Your job doesn't explain the music you listen to at 1 AM.

It doesn't explain why you suddenly become competitive during a game.

It doesn't explain your obsession with finding the best coffee shop.

It doesn't explain the weekend gym session you almost skipped.

And it definitely doesn't explain the group chat.

You are more than your job title.

You can be a software developer who runs marathons.

A marketer who spends every weekend gaming.

A finance professional who knows every anime release.

A designer who hates meetings.

A student who is simultaneously preparing for exams and planning their next trip.

Your profession is one part of your identity.

It's not the entire thing.

The internet made this even more obvious.

Today, people don't just follow careers.

They follow interests.

Fitness creators.

Gaming communities.

Football pages.

Anime fandoms.

Travel creators.

Music communities.

Meme accounts.

Food pages.

People build identities around what they do when they're not working.

And that's where the idea of SIDE MODE comes from.

Your side isn't really a side.

Think about it.

The things you do after work can sometimes tell people more about you than your job does.

The playlist you make.

The sport you play.

The games you spend hours on.

The places you travel to.

The food you obsess over.

The random hobby you picked up at 27.

Those aren't just “side interests.”

They're part of who you are.

That's why SIDE MODE isn't about one aesthetic.

We're not trying to put everyone into the same box.

Instead, we built different modes for different versions of everyday life.

WORK MODE — because deadlines are real.

ACTIVE MODE — because sometimes you need to move.

PLAY MODE — because life shouldn't be all work.

LIFE MODE — because there is more outside the routine.

HUMAN MODE — because nobody has everything figured out.

DRUNK MODE — because some stories start with “just one.”

Different moods.

Different interests.

Different days.

Same person.

You don't need to choose one version of yourself.

Maybe your LinkedIn says one thing.

Your Spotify says another.

Your Strava says something else.

Your Netflix history is probably classified.

And your group chat knows the real story.

That's okay.

You don't need one identity.

You have modes.

Different Modes. Same You.
